Janasabha formed in Velvettiturai

Model Janasabhas are being set up across the island as a platform for citizens to voice their opinions on public policies.

They also contribute to the creation of successful public policies through active citizen participation.

One of them was set up at Velvettiturai in Jaffna yesterday (15).

District secretary A. Sivabalasuntharan chaired the event led by National Janasabha Secretariat’s resource person Ravindra Silva.

Janasabha aims to create a sustainable state through an advanced participatory democracy.

Its vision is to build a platform that is accessible to all citizens, regardless of their location or socio-economic status.

By providing citizens with a voice, a more just and equitable society can be created while promoting transparency and accountability in government, and helping reduce corruption and bureaucracy.
