Health authorities are providing youth with free condoms after finding a high prevalence of HIV positive cases among them.
Specialist on sexually-transmitted diseases Thilani Ratnayake said that of the 607 cases identified last year, 73 were in the 15 to 24 age group.
Speaking at a media seminar at the Health Promotion Bureau, she also said 66 of them were males.
STD clinics islandwide are now making free distributions of condoms, Dr. Ratnayake added.
