No decision has been taken as yet to fill the vacant position of the inspector general of police, said sources at the Presidential Secretariat.
In the meantime, Neth News quoted public security minister Tiran Alles as saying a decision is expected at a meeting tomorrow (27) to be chaired by the president.
A similar meeting on 23 November ended without agreement.
C.D. Wickramaratne retired as the IGP on 24 November after completing four service extensions.
The president is expected to appoint senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon as the acting IGP, added sources at the Presidential Secretariat.
