Parliament is a place for lawmaking, not a place for playacting which anyone is free to do outside, said president Ranil Wickremesinghe today (22).
Making a statement to the House, he proposed to make it mandatory that parliament should discuss the main orders of the day after the first hour.
Sittings drag on until the afternoon without getting to key matters, he observed.
The president also said that presidential and parliamentary polls would definitely take place next year, followed by provincial council elections.
