Raj TV, a Tamil language Indian general entertainment channel based in Chennai has sent a letter of demand to Minister of Mass Media Bandula Gunawardena over the non-payment of dues by the state-owned Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).
Raj TV has sought Minister Gunawardena's intervention after repeated requests to settle the outstanding payments for the period between May 2019 to December 2022, amounting to USD 639,450, had been ignored by the SLRC.
It also said that "Channel Eye is continuing to blatantly use our signals illegally without securing proper authorization or rights from us, which leaves us with little or no option but to go the legal way."
A copy of the letter has also been forwarded to the Office of the High Commission of India in Colombo.
