The historic Ehelepola Walawwa in Kandy is to be utilized for an investment project if the Dalada Maligawa declines to take its custody.
Minister of Urban Development and Housing Prasanna Ranatunga has told his ministry secretary to formulate a cabinet paper for the purpose.
He said at a ministry meeting that the archaeological value of the place should be preserved at the same time.
The Uuban Development Authority (UDA) has already spent Rs. 147 million to develop the manor house, and the Dalada Maligawa should reimburse that amount if it takes over the place, he said.
The Dalada Maligawa is yet to make a clear stand with regard to the matter.
