Six Tamil university students have been released on bail after their arrest made by the police as they were returning from a protest by dairy farmers in the east.

As the agitation demanding the return of pastures at Mailaththamadu marked 52 days on 05 November, students of Jaffna and Eastern universities extended their support by making an appearance.

As they were returning, police stopped their bus at Sandiveli in Jaffna and arrested the six for not having student identity cards in their possession.

Produced before the Eravur magistrate’s court, they were ordered a Rs. 100,000 surety each.
