Golden Key depositors have expressed suspicions over the death of Ceylinco Group chairman Lalith Kotelawala.

A member of the depositors’ association Jude Marco Perera said once he became gravely ill, Kotelawala was hospitalized, but no one was allowed to visit him.

Perera was testifying before Colombo additional magistrate Pasan Amarasinghe yesterday (03).

He said Kotelawala had reportedly been given spinach soup and king coconut water several times a day about two weeks prior to his death.

He claimed to have evidence that certain persons and several lawyers had planned to show that Kotelawala had died a natural death.

Naming the suspects involved, he said they had taken the Ceylinco Group founder amid his wife Cecile’s objection to a house at Colombo 07, where he was forced to transfer properties worth billions of rupees.

He said a complaint had been lodged with Bambalapitiya police.
