Tamils in the Wanni are now preparing to mark Maaveerar Naal on 27 November to remember their relatives and friends who died in the war as members of the LTTE.
Clearing of Theravil cemetery at Vishwamadu in Mullaitivu, where 7,000 are buried, took place on 22 October.
ITAK MP Charles Nirmalanathan said on the occasion that they had a duty to honour and remember their heroes for posterity.
It is alleged the Army has taken over more than 75 per cent of the cemetery area.
Tamils demand the immediate removal of an Army camp located nearby.
