The Supreme Court will take up on 14 and 15 February 2024 the fundamental rights petitions that challenge the orders of a presidential
commission inquiring into political victimizations appointed by Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Judges Vijith Malalgoda, Arjuna Obeysekara and Achala Wengappuli will hear the plaints filed by secretary to the president Saman Ekanayake, former Navy commander Travis Sinniah, ex-directors of the CID Ravi Seneviratne and Shani Abeysekara, Ananda Wijepala, Sandya Ekneligoda, Upul Jayasuriya and Padmini Ranawaka.
Also to be taken up will be a related petition filed separately by Rear Admiral Thusitha Wijesekara.
The respondents cited are chairman of the presidential commission Upali Abeysekara, former judge in the court of appeal Chandra Jayatileke and ex-IGP Chandra Fernando.
