The Israel and Sri Lanka United Front (ISUF) has condemned the recent attacks by Hamas in Israel and appealed to the global community to unite against this violence and the massacre of Jewish people.

In a letter to Ambassador of Israel to Sri Lanka Naor Gilon on Thursday (12), IUSF national organiser Vimukthi Jayasuriya called on countries that may be aiding such violent acts to reconsider their actions and end their support for these terrorist organizations.

The ISUF statement said;

"We, the Israel & Sri Lanka United Front, write this letter with heavy hearts and deep concern regarding the recent horrific attacks carried out by Hamas in Israel, resulting in the loss of innocent lives, including infants and children. We wish to express our unequivocal condemnation of these barbaric acts that have caused immeasurable pain and suffering to the people of Israel.

Our hearts go out to the families who have lost their loved ones in these senseless attacks, and we extend our deepest condolences to them and the nation of Israel in this time of grief. The loss of even a single life is a tragedy, and we mourn with you.

It has come to our attention that there are unconfirmed reports of a Sri Lankan citizen being among the victims of the Hamas attacks in Sri Lanka. We express our sympathy and concern for this individual and their family, and we urge the international community to investigate and ensure justice is served.

We want to acknowledge the resilience and strength of Israel during these challenging times. Despite the difficult circumstances, you have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of Sri Lankans residing in Israel, for which we are sincerely grateful.

In the face of these grave events, we must also emphasize the urgent need to warn Hamas and Hezbollah against further escalating this situation by carrying out additional attacks and holding foreigners as hostages in Gaza. We call on countries that may be aiding such violent acts to reconsider their actions and end their support for these terrorist organizations.

These attacks are a dark stain on human history, reminiscent of the atrocities committed during World War II by the German Nazis. It is our duty to appeal to the global community to unite against this violence and the massacre of Jewish people. We must stand together to reject hatred and ensure the safety and security of all individuals, regardless of their faith or nationality.

Lastly, we extend our sincerest wishes for a swift recovery for the families who have lost their loved ones and express our unwavering commitment to defeating terrorism. We offer our hand in solidarity to help in any way we can to overcome Hamas and contribute to the building of a stronger Israel for the betterment of the world.

In unity and solidarity."

The IUSF also staged a protest in front of the UN office in Colombo yesterday (13).
