The opening ceremony for the ‘BA in Applied Police Studies’, a joint initiative by the Sri Lanka Police Academy and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura,

aimed at enhancing the professional knowledge and skills of Sri Lanka’s Police officers, took place on 04 September.

The ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Police Criminal Records Division and was attended by minister of public security Tiran Alles.

Also in attendance were secretary of Public Security Ministry Viani Gunathilaka, UGC Chairman senior professor Sampath Amaratunga, the vice chancellor of Sri Jayewardenepura University and several lecturers.

During the ceremony, the first batch comprising 150 Police officers, for this degree programme, were officially registered.

The event also saw the participation of several senior Police officers, emphasising the importance of this programme in enhancing the capabilities of the entire Police Department.
