SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa has thanked the president and the cabinet for having decided to release waters of Samanala
Wewa to Udawalawa reservoir for irrigational purposes.
The president responded speedily and positively to the request in this regard by SLPP MPs, he said.
He also commended all those, irrespective of political divisions, raised a voice on behalf of the drought-hit farmers.
Rajapaksa urged the president to grant concessions to the farmers for their crop damage as well.
He extended his party’s support to make a correct evaluation of the drought and for proper management to minimize the impact.
