The health minister has agreed to conduct a ministry-level inquiry into officials who had recommended the cremation of Muslims who had died of the coronavirus.
This follows a call by SJB MP Rauff Hakeem on 18 July in parliament to prosecute the officials responsible.
The unscientific decision taken by the officials contrary to expert opinion had caused a great injustice to Muslims and denied them the Islamic burial rites, Hakeem said.
Their relatives are planning to file a case against the committee members, he added.
