The staff of Bandaranaike International Airport at Katunayake staged a protest yesterday (19) to press for several demands.

Around 3,000 employees representing the Sri Lanka Inter Company Employees’ Union, Sri Lanka Independent Employees’ Union, Progressive Workers’ Union, National Employees’ Union and the Samagi Sewaka Sangamaya joined the protest.

Noting that they had not been given a salary increment since 2018, they demanded that an increase of at least Rs. 33,000 be provided to all airport staff.

Officials said airport operations continued uninterrupted despite the protest.
