Buddhist religious leaders have been requested to give consideration to ensure discipline among Buddhist monks, said Buddha Sasana and religious affairs minister Vidura Wickramanayake.
Maha Nayaka Theras have been asked in writing to reassess the ongoing dialogue in society with regard to controversies involving Buddhist monks, he said.
Discussions are under way to introduce two new acts for the purpose of ensuring discipline among the monks, he said.
