The House debate on the proposed anti-corruption act was held yesterday (21) and a vote on the bill has been put off for the next session with a continuation of the debate to be decided.

Leader of the House Susil premajayanth said a two-day debate on the bill will be followed by a vote.

Chairman of the sectoral oversight committee on the subject, W.D.J. Seneviratne said several amendments have been proposed for the bill.

MP Chandima Weerakkody said the opposition moved 43 amendments to the bill.

He criticized the proposed laws, saying that they propose no punishment for the guilty or measures to recover losses to the state from corruption.
