SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa has ridiculed those who have failed to get any SJB MP to join the government.

Not a single SJB MP has crossed over despite their claims for more than a year that they had the support of up to 40 MPs of that party, he said.

Rajapaksa was referring to a report circulating in the social media which said the SJB is prepared to join together with the president.

Now they are saying the SJB wants to work together with the president, but that they are not doing so because of the SLPP, said the MP.

We give our fullest blessings if the SJB joins the government, said Rajapaksa, issuing a challenge to strengthen the government by giving any of its positions.

Referring to the SLPP seniors’ boycotting of a meeting called by the president last Monday, he said summoning any of its MPs for political reasons should be done through the party only.

They did not attend the meeting as the proper procedure was not followed, and not because they are angry over not getting cabinet positions, he insisted.
