LGBT Pride Month is a month, typically June, dedicated to the celebration and commemoration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) pride worldwide.
In Sri Lanka, the LGBT community celebrated the occasion on June 04 with a parade from Viharamaha Devi Park to Kollupitiya.
It was titled freedom pride parade.
Before its commencement, activist Chanu Nimesha told the media the LGBT community, ridiculed with no equality in society, should create a just society for themselves.
Depression among them leads to suicide, she said, adding they discussed and convinced the prelates of the three Buddhist chapters about their predicament.
