Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa says his repeated questioning about the fate of 6,400 depositors of The Finance Co. has been to no avail.
An assets evaluation in 2019 found depositors had Rs. 11.6 and Rs. 5.5 of assets in the company, Premadasa told parliament.
He called for an irregularities-free auctioning of the company to pay back the depositors or handing it over to a trusted company in order to guarantee the safety of the deposits.
He again urged that a speedy solution be given to the matter.
