A video circulating in Whatsapp in which SJB leader Sajith Premadasa expresses readiness to join the government has been proved to be misleading, according to independent fact checking platform factcrescendo.com.
It has caught the attention of many especially because of reports making rounds that several party MPs are going to support president Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The said video contains only an invitation Premadasa had made to Ranil Wickremesinghe, as the UNP leader, to take part in the inaugural meeting of the SJB on March 02, 2020.
However, Wickremesinghe did not attend that event.
The conclusion that the video is not genuine has been reached after investigating via Fact Check and We Verify facilities.
The opposition leader’s office, too, rejected the video, while Premadasa himself has condemned fabrications by pro-government groups that he was going to join the government.
