A Sri Lankan soldier fighting alongside Ukrainian forces against the invading Russians has suffered serious injuries from cluster bombs.

Ranish Hewage accused Russian forces of committing war crimes against Ukrainians, including the use of the banned white phosphorus and other chemical weapons.

In an interview with ‘Sandeshaya by Saroj’ in Kerkf, he admitted both sides were responsible for such crimes.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy promoted him a captain after he suffered serious injuries while attempting to rescue a US colleague and is now the commander of a platoon of foreign soldiers.

Ukraine will never surrender to Russia and that it was up to Vladimir Putin to end a war which he had started, said Hewage.
