The Ministry of Finance will abide by the Supreme Court ruling that prevents the withholding of funds for the local government polls, said state minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
Expenditures will have to be arranged as per the court decision, he said.
The SC issued the interim injunction to the finance secretary and the attorney general yesterday (03), also preventing the withholding of funds to the Government Press for the printing of ballot papers.
The Election Commission said a new date for the LG polls would be announced before March 09.
A final decision is expected at a meeting two days earlier also to be attended by the government printer and the police chief.
