Minister of power and energy Kanchana Wijesekara is to move a 14-point charge-sheet against Public Utilities Commission (PUCSL) chief Janaka Ratnayake.

The charge-sheet was referred to the Legal Draftsman’s Department yesterday (03) for finalization, aruna.lk reports.

It is due to be submitted to parliament by minister Wijesekara after February 08.

Among the charges contained in it is that a company said to be owned by Ratnayake had obtained a license to buy bulk electricity and sell to consumers.

Also, a hotel complex of which he is the owner, had unpaid electricity bills to the tune of Rs. 1,476,651, and he had even reached the CEB to get the payment reduced, according to another charge against him.

Mohan Samaranayake and Udeni Wickremasinghe yesterday tendered their resignations as members of the PUCSL.

The PUCSL chairman has said that he was awaiting the charges against him to come out.
