Former Kotte mayor Janaka Ranawaka has been accused of preparing fake deeds and acquiring a state-owned land worth more than Rs. 250 million.
Incumbent mayor Shantha Premalal and eight others lodged a complaint in this regard with the director of the illegal assets investigation division of the police today (02).
The director has promised them to carry out a speedy investigation and enforce the law against the accused.
According to the complaint, Ranawaka and his brother had prepared fake deeds to claim a 39.32 perch land in Rajagiriya owned by the Sri Jayewardenepura Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
