The prices of two brands of cigarettes were increased at midnight yesterday (01).
Accordingly, Gold Leaf and Benson and Hedges will be sold respectively at Rs. 85 and Rs. 90 per stick.
This follows the social security levy introduced through the interim budget 2022 having come into force.
The Finance Ministry expects to earn an income of Rs. 14 billion per year from the new tax that will be applicable to companies with an annual turnover of more than Rs. 100 million.
