Ajantha Nilmini de Silva, the mother of renowned journalist and Editor-in-Chief of ‘The Sunday Morning’ newspaper Mandana Ismail Abeywickrema, has passed away.
She had been ailing for some time and was 73 at the time of her death at a private hospital yesterday (22).
A past student of Visaka Vidyalaya, Colombo, Nilimini was a well-known social activist.
The remains will be placed at A.F. Raymonds in Borella from this morning, a relative said, adding the funeral is due to take place at the Borella Kanatte at 3.00 pm tomorrow.
