Chairman of the ICC Greg Barclay has told Ranil Wickremesinghe that he intends to visit Sri Lanka at his earliest to discuss the island’s cricket crisis, said highly-placed government sources.

He has made his intentions known in a reply to an email message sent by the president asking for a lifting of the international ban on Sri Lanka.

The ban has been imposed due to strong objections raised by two members of the ICC’s governing council, while the rest has called for some relief.

The duo has noted the sports minister’s conduct with regard to rugby and football, and the appointment of a cabinet subcommittee to inquire into the cricket interim committee he had appointed.

The ICC has accordingly decided to further consider political meddling in the SLC.
