Sri Lanka pulled off a 21-run win over Netherlands in a ICC Cricket World Qualifier Super Six stage encounter played at Bulawayo, Zimbabwe yesterday (30).

Netherlands were chasing a modest target of 214 runs for victory, and with an unbeaten 67 in 68 balls by skipper Scott Edwards they hoped of pulling off a shock win.

Sri Lanka’s spin pair Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga thwarted the opponents by sharing five wickets among them.

Netherlands succumbed for 192 runs.

Earlier, Sri Lanka took first lease of the wicket and were in tatters as they slid to 34 for four in the seventh over.

And, they were struggling on 131 for seven in the 33rd over.

Dhananjaya de Silva came to the rescue with a top score of 93 in 111 balls which had eight boundaries and two sixes.

He shared a partnership of 77 runs for the eighth wicket with Maheesh Theekshana to help Sri Lanka to a respectable 213 runs, which they managed to defend.
