Parties in the opposition have decided to take strong disciplinary action against their MPs,

who have gone against party decisions and accepted decentralized funds and liquor permits, according to lankadeepa.lk and silumina.lk.

Most of them have received these funds and permits without the knowledge of their party leaders.

SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem said some of his MPs are among them, and said they could face inquiries.

Chief opposition whip Lakshman Kiriella said the SJB had not decided to allow its MPs to receive any of those.

 


Rs. 1,200 million given to SJB MPs

A total of Rs. 1,206 million of 2024 decentralized funds has been allotted to SJB MPs, with Faizal Cassim, Ishaq Rahman and Zaid Ali Zahir Moulana receiving Rs. 100 million each.

The other recipients are Risath Bathiudeen (Rs. 85 million), Dr. Kavinda Jayawardena (Rs. 69 million), Rohini Kaviratne (Rs. 62 million), J.C. Alawathuwala (Rs. 61 million), Dr. Rajitha Senaratne (Rs. 51 million), Gayantha Karunatilake (Rs. 51 million), Dr. Harsha de Silva (Rs. 50 million), Sujith Sanjaya Perera (Rs. 50 million), Kins Nelson (Rs. 50 million), W.H.M. Dharmasena (Rs. 50 million), Ajith Mannapperuma (Rs. 49 million), Patali Champika Ranawaka (Rs. 49 million), Dilip Wedaarachchi (Rs. 48 million) and Hector Appuhamy (Rs. 18 million).
