SLPP national organizer Namal Rajapaksa says postponing elections is not healthy for any democracy.
Extending the terms of the president and the parliament undermines the fundamental principles of a democratic society, he said.
“Stability should come through the will of the people, not by delaying their voice,” he said on ‘X’.
He is responding to a statement made by UNP general secretary Palitha Range Bandara today the two upcoming elections should be postponed by two years.
Meanwhile, national organizer of the New Alliance Nimal Lanza said the president has given an assurance the presidential polls would take place as scheduled.
He described Range Bandara’s statement as a mad one.
