The elderly are in severe difficulties due to the cancellation of the senior citizens’ account.
That account ensured them a comparatively high interest of 15 per cent per annum on their savings, whereas they now receive less than eight pc.
They have been depending on that interest on their fixed deposits to buy medicines and other essentials.
Senior citizens are asking that they be given the 15 pc interest as previously.
