An appeal has been filed against the rigorous imprisonment term handed to Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera, according to secretary of Rawana Balaya, Ven. Ittekande Saddatissa Thera.
In addition to getting four years behind bars, Gnanasara Thera was also ordered to pay Rs. a 100,000 fine.
The high court has found him guilty to charges of creating religious dissent by remarks he made to the media in 2016.
