A former secretary to the state ministry of coast conservation, Anil Wijesiri, has filed an anticipatory bail application in connection with a hotel demolition case.
In his application, he requested yesterday (12) that he be not arrested over the pulling down of Soul Beach Hotel in Dehiwala as an unauthorized construction.
Wijesiri stands accused of preparing a fake document to show the plot in which the hotel was located did not belong to the Coast Conservation Department.
Following the hotel’s demolition on 01 January, police investigated the matter and found the fake document.
Taking up the matter, the Mt. Lavinia magistrate’s court said the police could still arrest Wijesiri over the incident, and imposed a foreign travel ban on him.
