The Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés Marcelo Garrido, and the leader of the National People’s Power, Anura Dissanayake, met yesterday (08) at the JVP head office at Pelawatta.

The First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy, Maribel Duarte Gonzalez and Bimal Ratnayake, National Executive Member of NPP, also participated.

They discussed the political relationship between the Communist Party of Cuba and the People’s Liberation Front, as well as the current political activities of the NPP, at length.

The Ambassador informed Dissanayake about the long-standing sanctions imposed on Cuba, the direct relations between Cuba and Sri Lanka, their progress, and problematic areas.

Also, the Ambassador explained that negotiations are being held to implement a project to control dengue in Sri Lanka with the cooperation of the Cuban government, and such projects are currently being implemented with countries on three other continents.
