Laying interlock bricks in pavements in Colombo will gradually be reduced in an attempt to control temperature levels in the city, said municipal engineer Indika Pathirana.
In their place, tree planting will be encouraged, with steps in that regard already taken at George R. de Silva Mawatha.
Municipal workers are presently removing interlock bricks from around trees located in the city, Pathirana added.
