Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has accused a majority of serving MPs of harbouring corruption, fraud, bribery and corruption.

The country has nominal democracy only despite the existence of its pillars - the executive, legislature and judiciary, he said after handing over a smart classroom to Debarawewa President’s College in Tissamaharama.

He said 113 MPs came forward to protect Keheliya Rambukwella when the SJB brought in a no-confidence motion against him over corrupt and substandard medicines scams, he said.

Now, those responsible for corrupt acts are getting exposed in courts.

Speaking further, Premadasa said the country was now 90 billion US dollars in debt due to rampant corruption, fraud and due to unproductive projects implemented with foreign loans obtained at very high interest.

Under a SJB government, all those responsible would be brought before the law and punished, while the lost assets will be recovered, he added.
