The National Movement for Social Justice (NMSJ) has urged the state’s intervention in ensuring a reasonable price for paddy farmers.
With the Maha season harvesting now under way, a proper mechanism should be in place for the purchase of the produce, said its secretary Sunil Jayasekara.
He reminded the government of its responsibility to implement a lasting programme to safeguard local farmers.
