A general election will take place soon after Basil Rajapaksa arrives from the US early next month, said former ambassador to Russia, Udayanga Weeratunga.
Speaking to ‘Talk with Chamuditha’, Weeratunga said the SLPP founder would arrive on 05 March.
As usual, Nimal Lanza will pay for his use of the VIP lounge at the Katunayake airport, he said.
“This time, Basil Aiya is coming to go for a parliamentary election. He will be brought from the airport in a motorcade,” said Weeratunga.
Rajapaksa will then start accepting nomination papers from SLPP candidates.
He has the family’s blessing to contest, as the SLPP’s prime ministerial candidate, added Weeratunga.
