S.C. Muthukumarana is to fill the parliamentary seat vacated by Uddika Premaratne.
Presently overseas, Premaratne tendered his resignation to the speaker yesterday (27).
Muthukumarana is next in line on the SLPP’s preferential votes list for the Anuradhapura district.
He polled 39,895 votes at the last general election.
Previously, he was an MP for Anuradhapura from 2010 to 2020.
