The Ministry of Public Security intends to establish the Police Cadet Corps (PCC) as an independent unit with a new uniform for them, said Minister Tiran Alles.

He said the PCC has a huge responsibility in educating the schoolmates and students of their schools on how they can avoid bad influences such as drug use, and set an example in good and disciplined conduct.

The Minister stated this while addressing the ceremony to declare open the new Training Building of the Boralanda Police Training College, during the weekend.

He said that Cadet activities improve the discipline and the working ability of the students.

“The discipline you absorb should be shared among others too”, the Minister said.

Ministry Secretary Viyani Gunatilake, Acting IGP Deshabandu Thennakoon and senior Police officers were also present on this occasion.
