It is imperative that those responsible for economic crimes are given strong punishment, said United Republic Front leader Patali Champika Ranawaka.
There are many behind the economic crisis, who should be properly investigated and identified, he said.
Ranawaka also called for a rectification of irregularities that had taken place during the coronavirus pandemic and also an investigation into the covid-related deaths.
Those responsible for the fuel shortage should be sent to prison as well, he added.
