Personal information obtained from certain websites are being used in computer crimes, said the Computer Crime Investigation Division.
There are various safeguards in website designing to prevent third parties from laying their hands on such information.
However, the situation is such that sensitive data such as bio-data can easily be obtained from certain state and private websites.
Facebook, whatsapp and email accounts could fall prey to computer crimes, leading to the exposure of even personal bank account details, said the division’s ASP Chandima Arumapperuma.
