Feeedom People's Congress MP Dullas Alahapperuma has urged the Election Commission to hold the presidential polls on the nearest due date.

Speaking to the media yesterday (22), he asked the commission to halt the constitutional dictatorship being created by the incumbent president.

Quoting from the constitution and the presidential elections act, Alahapperuma said the election should take place within a month from 18 October.

He accused the government and its media cronies of creating suspicion if the election will be held at all.
