Minister for Urban Development and Housing Prasanna Ranatunga has told state officials to start only those projects that could be completed by 31 July.
He was addressing the Matale district coordinating committee meeting.
Ranatunga said president Ranil Wickremesinghe has restarted development work which had remained suspended for over three years due to Covid and the economic crisis.
He emphasized that he expected maximum support from the state machinery in carrying out development programs.
It is the responsibility of the district coordination and regional coordination committees to identify development projects suitable for each province, district and divisional secretariat.
The work should be done by considering public opinions and suggestions.
Officials were informed about the Mountain Decade Development Program that will be implemented in 10 districts this year.
Those districts are Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Matara, Galle, Kalutara, Badulla and Kurunegala.
