The senior vice president of the United Republic Front says backdating laws to punish corruption, wastage and irregularities will help the country to recover wealth lost to swindling.
Shiral Lakthialaka says such laws should be in line with international conventions.
He also says no development work should be undertaken outside the national physical plan that should be the all-encompassing agenda for development.
Also, projects should happen after proper feasibility studies and under the due procurement process, he says.
Lakthilaka adds that his party is paying attention to the people who need to be given relief, and will make short-term proposals to strengthen their economy.
