Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has called for the abolition of the executive presidency only on the strength of the mandate given by the public at the election due this year.

The incumbent has suddenly remembered abolishing the presidency with just months go to for the election, Premadasa told a SJB meeting in Hambantota yesterday (10).

He is using his stooges who are recipients of titles given him to campaign for its abolition now, charged the opposition leader.

The executive presidency should be abolished only after both presidential and general elections are held, he insisted.
