The proposed splitting of Sri Lanka Insurance as life and general coverage has been challenged in the court of appeal.
Secretary of the Insurance Employees’ Union Divakara Ethugala has filed the petition, saying a related order under a 2011 act has now become prescribed.
The order had wanted the splitting to take place by 2015.
The petitioner seeks an order to allow for an amendment to the act that should be adopted by parliament.
