Former president Chandrika Kumaratunga will be heading the leadership council of the PA, said SLFP media spokesman Thisara Gunasinghe.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the PA’s executive committee on 06 February.
Agreement has also been reached to form an extensive alliance under ‘chair’ symbol to contest future elections.
The SLFP will have 25 per cent and 50 pc stakes in its leadership council and the working committee respectively, he said.
New office bearers of the PA will be appointed on 22 February.
The New Alliance led by Nimal Lanza too, is to be part of this alliance and its leader Anura Yapa was present at the PA’s executive committee meeting.
