The arrest and remanding of former health minister Keheliya Rambukwella showcase the people’s force that is building up outside parliament, said the Frontline Socialist Party.

In this regard, its education secretary Pubudu Jayagoda especially noted the defeat of the no-faith motion against Rambukwella that caused the people to lose their faith in the parliamentary system and in corrupt politicians.

Representative democracy has become a mockery, he said.

Jayagoda told journalists that the first ever arrest of a cabinet minister and bail refusal for him is the result of the people having raised a voice for their rights.

People’s power and their opinion enabled the investigators and the judiciary to take their due course.

Stressing the need for an extensive people’s force against injustice, the FSP education secretary called upon the people to use this relative achievement as a stimulation towards building such a force.
